of Sri Krishna Gana Sabha’s (Chennai) Natya Kala Conference
1996 & 1997 - the only dance seminar of it’s
kind in India.
- Has co-convened Natya Darshan a dance
seminar for Karthik Fine Arts in 2002 & 2003 along with
Prof Sudharani Raghupathy and now serves the seminar in
an advisory capacity.
- Has served as Trustee , India Foundation For the Arts,
a Ford Foundation activated project.
- Member
of the Committee constituted by the Government of India
for selection of candidates for award of scholarships
and fellowships in Bharatanatyam.
- Member
of other committees relating to Art & Culture, constituted
by the Government of India
- External
Examiner in Bharatanatyam in a number of institutions
/ universities.
- Occupied
Rabindranath Tagore Chair in Fine arts
in a Professor Emeritus standing in the University
of Madras.
- Has
served as a Member of the General Council and Executive
Board of the Sangeet Natak Akademi (the apex body of performing
arts in India).
- A
government nominee on the General Council and Executive
Board of Tamil Nadu Eyal Isai Nataka Manram, the Tamil Nadu
State Academy for Art & Culture.
- Under
the scheme of inviting a personality whose contribution
to Indian Culture has been outstanding, The Japan Foundation
invited Chitra Visweswaran to be their special guest for
the year 2000.

Television:
- Chitra's dance has been regularly featured in the
National Programme of Dance and local programmes of Doordarshan.
- Her dance has also been telecast by Television in
Sydney (Mike Walsh Show), Si ngapore Broadcasting Corporation,
BBC Television, U.K., Portugal TV, French TV, Swiss TV, U.S.
TV, Malaysian TV.
- On the occasion of India's 50th Year of Independence
BBC invited her to present especially choreographed programme
at the Symphony Hall, Birmingham which was telecast on 15th
August 1997, internationally.
- Her recent teaching segment in the dance serial Thaka
Dhimi Tha is considered a meanigful contribution and mind-opening
exercise in the field of dance.
